We continue to encounter a variety of female characters in our readings: the wife in “In a Grove”(and film Rashomon); Shin-ae, as well as the mother and sister in the universe of The Dwarf in the 1970s South Korea; the three generations of women in To Live, and, most recently, the missing mother and her talented daughter Chi-on in Please Look After Mom. Compare and contrast how the female characters are constructed in two or three stories by different authors, and argue how each author uses the female character to make certain points or to evoke certain feelings.
