THE PSALTER RECLAIMED REFLECTION
HE PSALTER RECLAIMED REFLECTION ESSAY INSTRUCTIONS
After reading Gordon Wenham’s The PsalterReclaimed in its entirety, you will write an essay of at least 1,300 words reflecting on what this book has contributed to your understanding of the following:
1. What do the Psalms contribute to the Christian’sunderstanding of the nature of worship?
2. What do the Psalms contribute to the Christian’s understanding of the Messiah?
3. What do the Psalms contribute to the Christian’s understanding of biblical ethics? (In this section, you must particularly interact with Wenham’s treatment of the imprecatory psalms and how you appropriate these psalms as Christians).
The paper must include a 1-sentence statement at the beginning of the assignment indicating completion of the reading. The paper must also have a brief introduction and conclusion and provide a discussion of the issues listed above in the body of the paper (the 3 parts must be roughly equal in length). This is not a book review, so you must demonstrate critical interaction with Wenham’s work rather than merely summarizing his key ideas. Because of the length of this essay, quotations from biblical passages and other sources must represent less than 10% of the total word count for the paper. The paper must follow current Turabian format and must include footnoting if sources are referenced or quoted.
