Mary Cassatt (1844-1926) was an influential American painter who left a vivid legacy with her painting which was rich in culture and exceptional style. Although most of her work is linked with the impressionist movement from 1879-1886, her work is not defined by one style. In some instances, Cassatt was an impressionist in her technique and elusive symbolist in the depictions of her themes or else subjects. Thematically, the artist’s works have been analyzed in various trajectories by art critics such as feminists. It is a well-documented fact that, her interpretation of women playing her role of motherhood and in the modern age where she is empowered as a career woman has often attracted a number of audience.
