a 1,000-word essay (about four pages double spaced) in which you explore at least ONE of the following questions in depth:

1. Do you think technology does more to connect us or does it leave us feeling more alone?
2. Cyber anthropologist Amber Case argues in her TED Talk that cell phones create an “ambient intimacy.” Do you think this ability to connect at anytime with anyone increases or decreases the depth of our connection to other people?
3. Psychologist Sherry Turkle argues in a New York Times article that we tend more and more to “turn away from talking face to face to chat online” and that “empathetic conversations” are less likely “because we keep our phones in the landscape.” Do think cell phones have reduced our ability to have deep meaningful conversations and to relate to the experiences of other people? Why or why not?
